Kew East Jct is one of the few remaining mechanical signalboxes within London, and still
has this lovely semaphore junction signal, though the co-acting arms it used to have at the top of the posts
were removed some years ago.
The line ahead continues to New Kew Jct, near the eastern end of Kew Bridge station; the curve to the
right goes to Old Kew Jct at the other corner of the triangle.

A closer view of the junction signals. They have now had numberplates added.

This telephoto view of the junction from the Old Kew Jct direction
highlights its unusual geometry, with the Old Kew line having to curve to the left to avoid the
New Kew spur (centre right). The up home for the New Kew spur can be glimpsed under the bridge.

This is the view from the other side of the Great West Rd overbridge that can be seen in the above photo.

This is the view back to the junction from over the Old Kew Jct curve, with the signalbox
on the left. The presence of the catch-point opposite the box seems odd until you remember there used to
be sidings between the curves (in the overgrown area in the photo above).
In the distance, the colour-light controlling Old Kew Jct can be seen in the opposite direction.
A closer view of the junction reveals there is a shunting crossover underneath
the Great West Rd bridge.
The signalman has now pulled off for a railtour to take the Old Kew curve.
There is a ground disc just in rear of the signalbox on the line from Old Kew Jct, to
authorise moves over the junction for trains that have shunted over the crossover.
