Drugstore are an amazing English indie/alternative band fronted by fabulous, spirited and lovely Brazilian singer/bassist Isabel Monteiro. Their songs are vibrant and passionate yet laced with tender, sensitive touches, they are all great musicians and they know how to entertain an audience.
Drugstore have re-formed with a completely new lineup, with Isabel joined by Peter Allinson (keyboards), Nils Eyre (guitar, pedal steel) and Steve Dixon (drums). In October 2010 they released a new album Anatomy. Following a series of successful one-off gigs in London, they have now signed a deal with Cherry Red Records to release a new best-of album, and will be playing a launch gig for this on Thursday 5/9/2013 at Madame Jojo's in Soho, London.
I've always enjoyed Drugstore gigs, and have taken photos of the them at
Drugstore again have an official website, designed and run by Isabel.
There is now a Drugstore group on Facebook, which is the best place to get the latest news and chat. Isabel also keeps a blog where she posts somewhat longer bulletins on life, the band and everything.
Although Adam Richards' excellent Drugstore site is no longer around (Adam died tragically in May 2004, and his
partner Robbie Langton also passed away in October 2009),
there are two other good fan sites:
Drugstore Online, run by Gary, and
Lex's photo gallery at Turn-Ons, Indie Attitude (French).
