At Harringay Park Jct a chord (left) to Harringay on the East Coast Main Line diverges from the Tottenham and Hampstead
line. It shares the distinction with
Greenford of being one of only two remaining locations
that have semaphore signals on passenger lines in Greater London.
The junction signal is shortly beyond the station platform at Crouch Hill. Note the unusual construction
with the 'feather' on the main post but the main signal offset to the right.
The view towards Harringay from the overbridge that can be seen in the last-but-one photo.
The overbridge on the right carries the East Coast Main Line, where a colour-light signal can be seen.
The junction as seen from the Harringay direction. The up main starter, on the left, also
carries the distant for Harringay Park Jct's up Intermediate Block (IB) home. In the foreground
is the colour-light up branch home.
The aforementioned up IB home, which is beyond Crouch Hill station
and also carries
Upper Holloway's
up distant - still semaphore, despite the latter now being a panel box. Also unusally, a mechanical slotting arrangement is used,
despite the fact that both arms are motorised,
to prevent the distant arm showing clear while the home arm is at danger.
Normally with motorised arms this interlocking would be provided electrically.
A rear view of the up home. In the distance is Harringay Green Lanes station, with South Tottenham Jct's
first signal beyond the end of the down platform.
The up home again, with the banner repeater for the starter beyond it.
