March 1983

Signalbox West Holmes is where the line from Boultham Jct joins that from Gainsborough and Pyewipe Jct. Some goods lines then diverge, rejoining the main lines at East Holmes.
A DMU to Doncaster approaches from East Holmes, passing an unusual signal with a wooden stage erected on a concrete post. To the left are the goods lines, with the superb lattice-posted exit bracket, whilst lines to the ex-GC West Yard diverge to the right. East Holmes' up main home, with High Street's outer distant beneath, can also be seen in the distance. View towards East Holmes
Ex-GNR somersault signal This ex-GNR somersault signal controlled the exit from an up goods loop from Pyewipe Jct.

View towards East Holmes A DMU heads towards Central station. The layout of the goods lines can be seen more clearly to the left here. The line on the very left is the goods loop from Pyewipe Jct.
This superb splitting somersault signal controlled the exit from the ex-GCR goods yard (a bit ironic, that!) Somersault splitter

The ex-GNR pegging instrument from Boultham Jct. Block instrument
Block instrument Its counterpart from Pyewipe Jct was a slightly newer, LNER model. Note the differences in the operating handle arrangement.

A mechanical indicator for the line to the ex-GC goods yard. Mechanical goods yard repeater
Block shelf The view from the other end of the block shelf. Only the top dials of the two BR block instruments at this end of the shelf were in use, providing non-pegging instruments to Pyewipe Jct and Boultham Jct.
