Signals at Pontrilas

Pontrilas is a block post between Abergavenny and Tram Inn on the Hereford-Newport stretch of the North & West line. Here is the signalbox with the up inner home in the foreground. There is an up goods loop here to allow freight trains to be overtaken by passengers.
This page is very much a 'winter and summer' selection - after my first visit here on 3/8/08, I decided to come back when the leaves were off the trees so I could get a more comprehensive selection of shots.

The track through the former station. The down starter can be seen in the distance by the tunnel portal, with the down home on the right. The old station building, now used as a guest house, is to the left behind the telegraph and electricity poles.

The up outerhome is beyond the other end of the short (37-yard) Pontrilas tunnel.
