View towards Pontrilas Abergavenny is a nice Welsh border station south of Hereford and Pontrilas, with a good collection of semaphore signals. This is the view south towards Newport, with the down innerhome in the foreground.
At the other end of the station is the up advanced starter, and a limit-of-shunt signal for the down line can be seen between the tracks. Up advanced starter and down LOS signal
Down home The down home is a short way north of the station. The down platform was originally an island and this bracket would then have had other arm(s) to signal trains into that line, and possibly also a goods loop beyond it.
A close-up of the up advanced starter, and the line towards Pontrilas. The down home can just be made out beyond the bridge. Up advanced starter
Down limit-of-shunt The down limit-of-shunt marker.
The former other face of the down platform can be seen in this view of the station. Station and down innerhome
Track layout at Abergavenny A closer view of the layout south of the station, and the signalbox. On the right, the up innerhome and starter have been pulled off for an approaching train.
An up train departs towards Hereford. Up train leaving
Down starter and up innerhome A closer view of the connections beyond the signalbox. On the left is the down starter, and siding exit signal. On the right is a yellow disc for setting back moves from the up goods lines. In the distance, a position-light shunting signal can be seen, and a tail-lamp camera for the up loop to its right.
The up starter has a calling-on arm below it, to allow trains to be admitted to the platform when already partially occupied. Up starter
Up home This nice GWR-style bracket is the up home, with a signal to allow trains into the up loop.

A face-on shot of the disc controlling the exit at the station end from the up sidings. Abergavenny thus shares the distinction with Worcester Shrub Hill of having two WR lower-quadrant yellow discs. Exit disc from up sidings
